Kite Surfer Dies After Horrific Cliff Smash at Compton
A man in his 50s tragically lost his life yesterday evening after crashing into a cliff while kite surfing off Compton. The terrifying incident happened around 5pm near Military Road.
Emergency Services Rush to Scene
Multiple rescue teams scrambled to help, including the Coastguard Rescue 175 helicopter, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, The Needles and Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Teams, Isle of Wight Ambulance Service, Yarmouth RNLI, and a Co-Responder team.
The injured kite surfer was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital but sadly died shortly after arrival.
Police Confirm No Suspicious Circumstances
A Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson said: “We were called at 5.38pm to an incident involving a kite surfer. A man in his 50s was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital and was later pronounced dead. We are not treating the death as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner.”
The tragedy has sent shockwaves through the local community as investigations continue.
