Man Arrested Over Ventnor Sex Attack Bailed by Police

A 35-year-old man arrested in connection with a shocking sex attack in Ventnor has been released on police bail. The incident sparked a major lockdown of St Catherine’s Church graveyard on Tuesday evening.

Sex Attack Shuts Down Graveyard

Police swooped on the graveyard just after 5.30pm following reports a rape took place in broad daylight. The area was sealed off as officers launched an urgent investigation.

Man Spends 18 Hours in Custody

The suspect was held and questioned for 18 hours before being bailed. Hampshire Constabulary confirmed the probe continues as they gather more evidence.

Next Appearance in July

The 35-year-old is due to return to Newport Police Station on 16th July 2019. Police say they remain committed to getting justice for the victim.
