Teen Assaulted and Robbed Near Southampton’s Bargate

A teenage boy was mugged between 12:25 pm and 12:45 pm on Saturday, March 25, near Bargate Southampton and Castle Way.

Attackers Demand Phone, Bag, and Shoes

The victim was approached by two lads aged 14-15 who demanded his bag, phone, and shoes. When he refused, one of the teens fled towards Westquay shopping centre but was chased back by the duo to Castle Way.

One of the attackers then assaulted the boy, leaving him with minor facial injuries. During the scuffle, the victim dropped his phone, which one of the culprits grabbed. Thankfully, a brave member of the public stepped in to help the victim recover his belongings.

Suspects Description

  • Both white, 14-15 years old, slim build
  • First suspect: approx. 5ft 6ins, wearing a grey beanie
  • Second suspect: approx. 5ft 5ins, dark short hair, black Nike coat resembling a gilet

Police Appeal for Witnesses

Officers want to talk to anyone who saw the robbery or assault. They especially want to find the Good Samaritan who helped the victim.
