Stolen BMW Crashes Into Police Car in Bearsden
A stolen BMW smashed into an unmarked police car at Canniesburn Toll roundabout in Bearsden, East Dunbartonshire, injuring a police officer and three men. The drama unfolded on Saturday morning and landed all four in Glasgow’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
Stolen Ride from Renfrewshire
The BMW was reported stolen from Eaglesham, East Renfrewshire, just hours before the crash. Luckily, none of the injured are thought to have serious wounds. The three men caught up in the smash – aged 32, 29, and 20 – have all been arrested.
Suspected Wrong-Way Driver
Police suspect the stolen car was travelling the wrong way when the collision happened. The full circumstances remain under tight investigation, with roads around the Canniesburn Toll roundabout still closed for inquiries.
Police Scotland Statement
“We received a report of a car theft on Gilmour Street, Eaglesham, around 6.35am on Saturday, July 1, 2023. The stolen vehicle was later involved in a collision with an unmarked police car at Canniesburn Toll, Bearsden,” a Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed.
“The injured parties were taken to hospital. Thankfully, injuries are not life-threatening. Investigation continues, and the three men have been arrested in connection with the incident.”
Authorities are continuing their probe into the chaotic crash as nearby roads stay shut while they piece together what went wrong.
