Massive Cannabis Farm Busted in Dunkirk House Raid
Police stormed a Dunkirk home on Marlborough Street late Sunday night and stumbled upon a stinking secret. At around 10.15pm, officers found the backdoor wide open and were hit with a strong whiff of cannabis as they stepped inside.
Over 300 Cannabis Plants Found Across Four Levels
The raid revealed an impressive illegal setup. About 50 plants were growing in the dining room, with more growing gear spotted in the living room. Upstairs, two rooms housed another 100 plants, including a bedroom packed with 50 more. The basement held an additional 70 plants, bringing the total haul to a staggering 300 cannabis plants spread over three floors and the cellar.
Two Men Arrested Over Drug Farm
Nearby, officers detained two men, aged 26 and 31, suspected of running the operation. They face charges linked to cannabis cultivation, plus driving without a licence and insurance. All plants and growing equipment have been confiscated.
“We are pleased to have been able to shut down this illicit operation before it could cause any harm,” said Nottinghamshire Police Inspector Ben Lawrence.
“Cannabis was found growing across three floors and a basement within this property, creating a serious fire risk given how the setup was powered.”
“Many wrongly believe cannabis growing is a victimless crime. It’s not. It endangers nearby residents.”
“This was a great result. We seized and destroyed around 300 plants and the equipment used to grow them. Our investigations continue, and anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting incident 769 of 19 February 2023.”
