Wild Police Chase Causes Chaos on A12
A reckless police chase tore through Leytonstone on June 10, sparking chaos on the busy A12 at around 4:20pm. The drama unfolded when a car sped the wrong way around the Green Man roundabout, hurtling into oncoming traffic.
Reckless Driver Caught on Camera Weaving Through Traffic
The chase kicked off on Cathall Road. Surveillance caught the suspect’s car weaving dangerously between lanes at high speed. A police helicopter tracked the pursuit from overhead. In a daring mid-chase switch, a passenger jumped out and swapped places with the driver, sending the car careering wildly through traffic.
High-Speed Crash Leaves Officers Injured
The pursuit ended in a smash near the Green Man roundabout at about 4:40pm when the suspect’s vehicle collided with a police car. Two police vehicles suffered heavy damage, gridlocking traffic as onlookers snapped pictures of the wreckage. Two officers were hurt, one with a suspected fractured arm. The driver and two passengers were taken to hospital as a precaution.
Suspect Arrested, Police Confirm Investigation
“At approximately 16:22hrs on Tuesday, 10 June a pursuit was authorised after a car made off from police on Cathall Road, E11. At approximately 16:38hrs, the car collided with a police vehicle on the A12 near the Green Man Roundabout, E11.
The London Ambulance Service, London Fire Brigade, and London’s Air Ambulance attended the scene. The driver and two passengers of the car were taken to hospital as a precaution. The driver of the car has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and remains in police custody.
Two officers were also taken to hospital, one with a suspected fractured arm. Enquiries continue.”
