Police swooped on a SE16 flat after a welfare concern call on Wednesday night.
Woman Found Dead in Canute Gardens Home
Officers forced entry to the property at 8.23pm and discovered the body of a 46-year-old woman. Her next of kin have been informed, as the investigation ramps up.
Man Arrested and Hospitalised
A 53-year-old man found injured inside the property was arrested on suspicion of murder. Paramedics from the ambulance service treated him at the scene before rushing him to hospital. He has since been discharged but remains in police custody at a south London station.
Homicide Team Takes Over
The Met’s Specialist Crime Command has launched a full homicide probe. A crime scene is now in place, with detectives working to uncover what happened. The man and woman are believed to have known each other.
