Arson Alert: Fire Rips Through Abandoned Care Home on Chestnut Walk

On Sunday 15th May 2022, between 7pm and 8:30pm, a derelict care home on Chestnut Walk was broken into and set alight. The blaze caused serious damage before firefighters could bring it under control.

Firefighters Race to Stop Blaze

The Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service acted swiftly, preventing the fire from causing even worse devastation. “Had they not been there promptly, the outcome would have been far worse,” warned PC Hannah Potter from Newbury police station.

Police Hunt Suspects – One in All Black

Offenders remain at large. One suspect is described as a male dressed head-to-toe in black. Police are urging anyone with information or footage from the area to come forward immediately.
