Tragic Crash on A21 Claims Young Life
Eighteen-year-old Sophie Ford has died following a collision last Friday night (27 October) on the A21 at Kent Street. Sophie was the sole passenger in the car when disaster struck.
Driver Seriously Injured
The 27-year-old male driver was rushed to hospital with serious injuries but is expected to survive. He remains under care as police continue their investigation.
Family Pay Heartbreaking Tribute to Sophie
“We are devastated at the loss of Sophie, our beloved daughter, sister, niece, cousin, granddaughter and friend to so many,” the family said.
“A recent graduate of Battle Abbey School, Sophie was a passionate animal lover and sportswoman who loved singing and music.”
“She volunteered at a local animal sanctuary and stables and had just started a Veterinary Physiotherapy degree at Writtle University College in Chelmsford.”
“Sophie was an active player for the South Saxons hockey club in Hastings, representing the ladies’ first team for five years.”
“She had so much promise and potential. Her untimely passing is a huge loss to all who knew her, both in the UK and abroad.”
Police Launch Probe Into Fatal Crash
The collision involved a white Seat Leon Cupra which left the road and smashed into a tree. The crash scene is under full investigation.
