Lockdown Party Bust in Grove Park: Police Shut Down Illegal Rave

Just after 3am on Thursday, 5 November, police swooped on a flat in Grove Park after reports of a large gathering. When officers arrived at Ballamore Road, they found around 30 people hanging around outside the block of flats. When questioned, no one would say what was going on.

Officers Locked Out as Revellers Flee

About 20 people were seen leaving the flat as officers tried to enter but were barred from getting in. After several attempts to get inside, cops identified the organiser and told them to clear the premises — another 20 people then exited the property.

Flat’s Resident Arrested for Drugs and Lockdown Breach

The flat’s resident, a 43-year-old woman, denied allowing such a crowd. When asked for ID, she gave multiple false names. She was arrested on suspicion of breaking Health Protection (Coronavirus) Regulations 2020 and possession of a Class B drug.

She’s now been released under investigation while police continue enquiries. Additionally, she faces a possible £10,000 fine for breaching lockdown rules.

Police Send Stern Warning Over Lockdown Parties

Sergeant David Walmsley of the South East Basic Command Unit said: “Large gatherings in your own home are still unlawful and will not be tolerated. Officers will continue to enforce the Coronavirus regulations where necessary to help keep people safe.”

“This was a totally egregious breach of the rules which meant officers had no choice but to issue a large fine. Events such as this are dangerous, there can be no excuse for this sort of reckless behaviour.”

“We are still in national lockdown and the public should continue to abide by the regulations which have been put in place to save lives.”
