Police arrested three men yesterday after a tip-off about suspicious activity near Erlestoke Prison.
Suspicious Vauxhall Astra Raises Alarm
At around 11:20am on Sunday, officers responded to a report from a member of the public about a shady vehicle spotted near Victoria Park. On arrival, they found three men acting suspiciously inside a Vauxhall Astra.
Argy-Bargy on Scene as Men Try to Flee
The trio became aggressive, verbally and physically, before scattering in different directions. Police gave chase and detained them again. Searches uncovered multiple mobile phones, cash, SIM cards, tobacco, cannabis, and an unknown white powder.
Charges Include Smuggling Prohibited Items Into Prison
- A man in his 20s from Enfield and a 17-year-old from Thurrock were arrested on suspicion of attempting to bring list A prohibited articles into the prison and involvement in offering class A drugs.
- A man in his 20s from London faces similar charges related to smuggling and class B drug supply.
All three have since been released under investigation as inquiries continue.
