Knife Alarm in Durrington Turns Out to Be Building Material
Police in Worthing sprang into action on Tuesday evening (27 September) after reports of a 15-year-old carrying a knife in The Causeway, Durrington.
Teen Caught, But No Knife Found
The youth was chased on foot and detained nearby. Officers found he had cannabis, for which he received a Community Resolution. But further enquiries, including CCTV checks, revealed the ‘knife’ was actually a piece of building material.
Safety Sweep Cleans Up Area
Police also collected various building materials left around the area to make The Causeway safer for residents.
Police Boost Patrols Amid Youth Trouble
Adur and Worthing Police said: “We are aware of ongoing issues involving youths in the area and continue to work with partners and the community to tackle this. Patrols are being increased to reassure the public.”
They urged locals: “If you witness any criminality, report it online or call 101. In an emergency, dial 999.”
