Massive Search Underway for Missing Swimmer Off Isle of Wight Coast
A huge rescue operation is underway between Cowes and Yarmouth after a male swimmer went missing this afternoon.
Coastguard and Lifeboats Scramble
Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 175 is combing the waters while Coastguard Rescue Teams from Bembridge, Ventnor, and The Needles patrol the shoreline. The Cowes RNLI lifeboat has also been deployed to aid the search.
Man Spotted in Trouble Near Royal Yacht Squadron
Around 3pm, witnesses reported seeing a male swimmer struggling roughly 400 metres off the Royal Yacht Squadron, moving towards Gurnard Bay. Since then, multiple agencies including police and WightSAR have joined the hunt.
