Final BAE Hawk T1A Up for Grabs as RAF Base Closes
Historic Jet Hits the Auction Block
The iconic BAE Hawk T1A XX306, the last aircraft to leave the RAF Scampton base before its 2023 closure, is now up for auction. Bids have already soared past £30,000, proving its appeal among aviation fans and collectors.
Bidding War Underway
GPSV Specialist Vehicle Auctions kicked off the sale at 10am yesterday. The auction runs live until 10am on April 28, giving bidders just days to snap up this piece of flying history.
A Gem Despite Missing Engine
Though the Hawk XX306 comes without its engine and lacks complete flight logs, it remains a prized collector’s item. Built in 1980, this jet racked up over 7,000 flying hours and more than 13,000 landings during its active service.
From Red Arrows to RAF Sentinel
Retiring from the prestigious Red Arrows in 2012, the Hawk spent the next decade guarding RAF Scampton’s gates until the base shut down. Experts carefully dismantled the aircraft, now stored at GPSV’s Leyburn facility, ready for its next owner.
