Major Blaze Destroys West Essex Golf Clubhouse

Around 60 firefighters are still battling a huge fire that ravaged the clubhouse at West Essex Golf Club. Residents have been urged to steer clear of the area as emergency teams work tirelessly to contain the inferno.

Firefighters Battle Intense Flames

The fire erupted earlier today and quickly engulfed the entire clubhouse. Essex Fire and Rescue Service dispatched a large multi-station response, with crews using aerial ladder platforms to tackle the thick smoke and raging flames.

“Fire crews are working hard to prevent the fire spreading to the rear of the building. An investigation will be carried out, when safe to do so, to find the cause of the fire,”

Despite the scale of the blaze, no injuries have been reported.

Massive Fire Response from Across Essex

Firefighters from multiple stations were called in, including Harlow, Rayleigh Weir, Loughton, Chelmsford, Grays, Corringham, Hawkwell, Brentwood, Ingatestone, and Billericay. Specialist urban search and technical rescue teams joined the effort amid fears the building’s structure could collapse.

Local Community Devastated

Residents took to social media to share shocking images and videos of the blaze. Local resident Orla Minihane tweeted:

“Our beautiful West Essex Golf Club has burnt to the ground today. Absolutely devastating for our community and the residents of Sewardstonebury. Thank God no one was hurt.”

Ongoing Firefighting and Investigation

Fire crews remain on site damping down hotspots and monitoring the aftermath. Authorities have warned residents to avoid the area while emergency operations continue. A full investigation into the fire’s cause will begin once the scene is safe.
