In the dead of night on Wednesday, August 21, HM Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team sprang into action at 2:22 am. They launched a critical medical transfer from Seaclose Park in Newport, calling in the heavy-hitting Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 175 – a cutting-edge Leonardo AW189 – to rush a patient to a mainland hospital.
High-Tech Helicopter Takes to the Skies
The daring rescue was expertly coordinated by the Aeronautical Rescue Coordination Centre, working seamlessly with the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service and the 111 Service. The 8-ton powerhouse helicopter blasted off in the early hours, its roar reportedly waking local residents nearby.
