Fishing Boat Breaks Down off Solent – Lifeboat Launches Swift Rescue

At 3:30pm today, the volunteer lifeboat crew raced down the slipway after getting an urgent call from Solent Coastguard. A fishing vessel with five people on board had broken down in choppy Easterly seas.

Braving Rough Seas for a Quick Rescue

Arriving just 15 minutes later, the crew quickly assessed the scene. With the tide ebbing, there wasn’t enough water to take the fishing boat safely into Bembridge Harbour. The only option was a tricky tow to moor off the Offshore Boathouse.

Safe and Sound by Early Evening

The crew and anglers were secured and transferred to the lifeboat Alfred Albert Williams. By 5:39pm, the disabled vessel had been safely recovered, bringing the dramatic drama to a close.
