At 9pm tonight, Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service sprang into action after a fire erupted at a takeaway on Ipswich’s Upper Orwell Street. Flames quickly drew multiple fire crews to the scene, sparking a huge emergency response.

Five Engines and Specialist Units Battle Blaze

At the peak of the fire, five fire engines from Princes Street, Ipswich East, Holbrook, Hadleigh, and Needham Market rushed in, backed by an aerial ladder from Ipswich East and the Command Support Vehicle from Woodbridge. Firefighters worked relentlessly to contain the flames to the takeaway and protect a nearby home.

Scene Secured, Road Closed – Public Told to Steer Clear

Although the number of fire crews has been scaled back, teams remain on site to fully deal with the aftermath. A cordon surrounds Upper Orwell Street, which remains closed. Police urge the public to avoid the area while crews continue their work.
