Bomb Hoax Sparks Early Morning Evacuation at Brighton Bin Depot

Emergency services rushed to the Hollingdean bin depot in Brighton at 1am this morning after a bomb hoax forced a full evacuation.

Staff Ordered to Stay Clear Amid Police Safety Checks

Workers at the Brighton and Hove City Council site on Upper Hollingbury Road were told to stay at least 50 metres away while police conducted thorough safety checks.

Sussex Police Confirm Bomb Hoax

“Police attended an incident at the Brighton and Hove City Council Depot in Upper Hollingbury Road on Wednesday morning (20 August). We carried out an assessment and the incident is being investigated as a bomb hoax,” a spokesperson confirmed.

Depot Reopens, Investigation Ongoing

Once cleared safe, council staff were allowed back in. Brighton and Hove City Council vowed to keep working closely with police as the probe continues. No arrests have been made so far.
