Five Fire Crews Race to Major Gas Leak in Southsea

Five fire crews rushed to tackle a serious gas leak in Southsea this morning (Sunday 11th March 2018). Western Parade, right next to Southsea Common, has been shut to traffic while firefighters assist Southern Gas engineers.

Traffic Chaos as Road Closes

With Duisburg Way already closed for resurfacing, motorists are forced to divert past Clarence Pier or avoid the area completely. The blockage is causing major disruption.

Specialist Teams Join the Battle

Firefighters are working alongside Southern Gas Networks to secure the area. A specialist environmental unit from 1 Fire Station was called in to help at the scene near the seafront.

The Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they were alerted at 9.14am this morning after reports of a gas leak at Western Parade.
