Prom Night Drama as Two Teens Nearly Drown Off Brighton Coast

Rescue Teams Rush to Brighton Zip Wire Spot

Just before midnight on 26 June 2023, a major rescue operation unfolded off the Brighton coast. Shoreham and Newhaven Coastguard units, Brighton RNLI lifeboats, Sussex Police, and SECAMB paramedics scrambled after a distress call reported two young people struggling in the sea near the Brighton zip wire.

Prom Celebration Turns Dangerous

The pair, celebrating their Prom night, had ventured into the water but soon found themselves in trouble. Luckily, they managed to self-rescue and reach the shore, where they were quickly met by first responders.

Emergency Aid on the Beach and Hospital Transfer

First aid was administered promptly on the beach before SECAMB paramedics arrived to stabilise the casualties. Both were then rushed by ambulance to Brighton A&E for urgent treatment and assessment.

Stay Safe and Call Coastguard in Emergencies

This dramatic rescue serves as a stark reminder: be extremely cautious near the water’s edge. If you spot anyone in trouble along the coast, dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard immediately.
