Capsized Catamaran Sparks Morning Search
Brighton’s RNLI team kicked off the week with a dramatic callout just before midday on Sunday, April 21. A catamaran capsized near Hove Lawns Café, sparking an urgent shoreline search. Luckily, the vessel righted itself and was seen safely heading back to shore, allowing the crew to stand down without further incident.
After-Midnight Mystery Yacht Standoff
Not even 12 hours later, the RNLI were back at it. At 12:20 AM on Monday, April 22, a distress call alerted them to a vessel displaying navigation lights near Brighton Marina. The yacht failed to respond to radio calls, sending the lifeboat crew into action.
They soon found an 80ft yacht anchored just south of the Marina entrance. Despite extensive efforts, there was no contact with anyone aboard. Fortunately, the yacht was securely anchored, posing no danger to others, and the team stood down at 1:11 AM.
