Car Overturns, Smashes Gas Cabinet – Homes Left Without Gas
A fiery crash near Herne Bay Crematorium sparked a major gas leak this afternoon, leaving several homes without gas. A car flipped on Bullockstone Road just after 4pm and slammed into a roadside gas cabinet, causing chaos.
Emergency Services Race to Gas Leak Scene
Kent Fire and Rescue scrambled two fire engines alongside Kent Police, SGN engineers, and paramedics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service’s Hazardous Area Response Team.
“Crews responded swiftly to reports of a gas leak caused by a collision involving an overturned vehicle. Firefighters worked closely with SGN engineers to secure the scene and limit the spread of the leak,” said a Kent Fire and Rescue spokesperson.
Evacuations, Road Closure & Ongoing Investigation
- One house and a caravan site were evacuated as a precaution
- Paramedics checked the driver’s condition, but injuries remain unclear
- Kent Police shut Bullockstone Road both ways, urging drivers to find alternate routes
- Gas supplies to several homes were cut off during repairs
