Man Killed After Stopping to Help on A35 Crash
A section of the A35 remains shut tonight after a 71-year-old man was fatally hit while trying to assist at a crash.

The fatal collision happened just after 5pm near the Holmsley Road junction, on a dark stretch of the road. The man from Bournemouth had stopped to help at a previous crash when he was struck by a second vehicle.
Rapid response paramedics rushed to the scene but sadly, he was pronounced dead there and then.
Road Closed for Investigation
Police have closed the A35 in both directions to allow collision investigators to gather evidence. Officers from the 1 Roads Policing Unit are diverting traffic onto the B3058 towards Bashley and New Milton.
A Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police spokesman said: “Sadly the pedestrian, a 71-year-old man from Bournemouth who was directing traffic, died at the scene following the collision at around 5:20pm. The A35 at Burley will remain closed for several hours for a thorough investigation.”
Witnesses Urged to Come Forward
