Major A249 Closure Hits Northbound Traffic This Weekend
The A249 northbound between M20 Junction 7 roundabout and Stockbury roundabout is shutting down from 10pm Friday, 4 March to 5am Monday, 7 March 2022. Utility pipe work means no access northbound from M20 Junction 7.

- Access to roads off the northbound side available via southbound crossovers.
- No crossing over A249 at Oad Street to reach Stockbury roundabout.

Follow These Diversions for a Smooth Journey
For motorway traffic:
- Take M20 westbound towards Junction 6.
- Exit M20 at Junction 6 onto A229 northbound towards Gillingham.
- At Lord Lees roundabout, take the third exit onto A229.
- At next roundabout, take the third exit onto M2 eastbound towards Canterbury.
- Exit M2 at Junction 5 eastbound slip onto Stockbury interchange.
- Continue your journey from there.
For non-motorway traffic:
- Take A249 into Maidstone.
- Turn right onto A229 northbound towards Gillingham.
- Follow to A2 roundabout and take second exit onto A2 eastbound towards Sittingbourne.
- At Key Street roundabout, take fifth exit onto A249 southbound towards Maidstone.
