Dramatic Cliff Rescue off Yarmouth as Lifeboat Saves Injured Walker
Yarmouth’s Severn-class lifeboat, Eric and Susan Hiscock (Wanderer), sprang into action on Tuesday 28 June 2022 after a man tumbled and hurt himself near Colwell Bay cliffs.
Volunteer Crew Race to Perilous Scene
The RNLI team launched at 1.29pm, speeding west from Yarmouth harbour to a tricky-to-reach bay. The Needles Coastguard and paramedics were already on site, but the rocky terrain made land ambulance access impossible.
Heroic Boat Rescue Saves Man with Head Injury
The lifeboat deployed its smaller ‘Y’ boat to reach the shoreline. They swiftly transferred the paramedic and the casualty — a man with a head wound — aboard. The team then rushed back to Yarmouth for a safe ambulance handover.
By 2.42pm, the lifeboat was back at its berth, ready for the next emergency.
RNLI: Lifesaving Funded by You
The RNLI remains fully independent, relying entirely on voluntary donations to keep saving lives at sea and along the coast.
