Paramedics are treating the man high up in the dockside crane while teams from Hart South Central ambulance service work alongside firefighters to free him.

Firefighters from Hampshire Fire and Rescue, including their Urban Search and Rescue Team, St Mary’s, and Redbridge units with an aerial ladder platform, scrambled to the scene at Western Docks.

Daring Rope Rescue Underway

Crews are installing a lowering mechanism on a platform at the top of the crane. The plan is to lower the trapped crane driver to safety using a rope rescue system while medics continue treatment inside the cab.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service have been contacted for comment.
