Traffic Alert: Kent Ready to Keep Roads Moving Amid Ferry Delays
Simon Jones, Kent Resilience Forum’s Strategic Planning Lead, has reassured locals that multi-agency teams are ready to handle any traffic disruptions. Their coordinated plans aim to protect residents and keep Kent’s roads flowing smoothly.
Port of Dover Open but Expect Delays
Earlier on Thursday, the Port of Dover warned of possible delays due to fewer sailings. But by 5pm, the port remained open with traffic moving well. Both DFDS and Irish Ferries are operating as usual.
The traffic management scheme TAP20 is currently controlling the flow of HGVs on the A20 leading into the port.
Authorities Urge Caution and Preparedness
Simon Jones, KCC Corporate Director for Growth, Environment and Transport, said:
“Kent Resilience Forum partners, including the Department for Transport, Kent Police, and National Highways, are closely monitoring the situation.
“We stand ready to work together to protect our communities and keep Kent’s roads running smoothly.
“We advise drivers in or passing through Kent to expect delays. If you’re travelling by ferry from Dover to the Continent over the next five days, please contact your operator before setting off.”
