Van Hits Pedestrian in Bexhill Chaos

Emergency services, including the Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance, swooped on Bexhill Beach this afternoon following a serious incident. A van driver struck an elderly man while reversing after stopping to help a local who had fallen on the pavement.

Tragic Chain of Events

Cllr John Lee broke down the drama: a resident slipped on the pavement, prompting a passerby in a van to pull over and offer help. But as the van reversed, the elderly gentleman stepped into the road and was hit. The crash left the van driver in shock and the pedestrian with a severe leg fracture.

Emergency Response and Road Closure

Ambulance crews rushed to the scene. Police swiftly closed the nearby road, allowing the KSS Air Ambulance to land close by and speed up the rescue. The man’s condition remains undisclosed, but reports suggest he was in significant pain.
