Dramatic Coastguard and RNLI Rescue Call Near Lancing Turns Out to Be False Alarm
Emergency Services Rushed to Shoreham Coast
Shoreham Coastguard Team were scrambled at 1:11pm after an ambulance crew spotted a person fully clothed entering the water by The Perch, Brighton Road, Lancing. Littlehampton Coastguard and Shoreham RNLI also joined the response.
First On Scene: Shoreham RNLI Confirms No Emergency
The Shoreham RNLI Inshore Lifeboat arrived first and discovered the “person” was actually a fisherman in wading gear. Luckily, no other casualties were found in the area.
False Alarm but Always Ready
All search and rescue teams were stood down. The call was made in good faith, highlighting the Coastguard’s commitment to rapid response.
