RNLB Norman Harvey Launches in Search for Mystery Object Off Ledge
The RNLB Norman Harvey lifeboat (Inshore Lifeboat D-778) was rushed out at around 4.46pm today. Tasked by the UK (Solent) Coastguard, the crew joined local rescue teams hunting for a possible black hull of an overturned rigid inflatable boat (RIB) spotted by a local walker near the Ledge.
Empty Seas and Odd Findings on the Hunt
The Norman Harvey began with a careful shoreline sweep near the Ledge. Their only haul? Some corks tangled in a fishing net. Not deterred, they scoured Black Rock next, discovering a rogue football caught in another fishing net but no sign of the reported object.
Search Called Off – Crew Return Safely
After an exhaustive search and no sightings, the Solent Coastguard stood down the mission at 5.45pm. The lifeboat and crew were safely back on shore by 6.10pm, wrapping up the day’s drama without incident.
