Kayaker Rescued After Getting Stuck on Portsmouth Mud Banks

A lifeboat was scrambled tonight after a kayak got stranded on the muddy banks near Eastern Road Bridge in Portsmouth.

Portsmouth RNLI launched just after 9pm when a passing motorist spotted the stuck kayaker and alerted authorities. The kayaker himself had already called the Coastguard for help.

Coastguard Search and Rescue Team Join Effort

The Portsmouth Coastguard search and rescue team also attended the scene. Fortunately, the kayaker was found safe after stopping to warm up on shore.

“Coastguard units saw him heading back to his car and waited to check he was okay,” confirmed officials.
