Human Remains Found in Suitcases on Clifton Suspension Bridge

Met detectives have taken over a chilling investigation after human remains were discovered in suitcases left on Bristol’s Clifton Suspension Bridge. The probe escalated when a man, wanted in connection with the case, was traced to having travelled from London to Bristol on the day the remains were found.

Manhunt Underway: Suspect Tracked from London to Bristol

Officers from Avon and Somerset Police spotted a suspicious man with a suitcase on the bridge late on Wednesday, 10 July. The man fled before police arrived, leaving behind two suitcases. Both contained human remains.

A crime scene has also been established in Shepherds Bush, London, where the Met have launched a manhunt to track down the suspect.

Police Urge Public: Don’t Approach Suspect, Call 999

“We have been working closely with Avon and Somerset colleagues and believe the man travelled to Bristol from London on Wednesday evening,” said Deputy Assistant Commissioner Andy Valentine.

“We urge anyone who spots him or knows his whereabouts to call 999 immediately. Do not approach him.”

“We understand the distress this has caused in Clifton and West London. Additional officers will be patrolling the area in the coming days.”

Post-Mortems Inconclusive; Victims Yet to Be Identified

  • A post-mortem has been carried out but was inconclusive. Further tests are ongoing.
  • The identities of the victims, believed to be adult men, have not been confirmed.
