Whopping New Medical Centre for 15,000 Patients Gets Green Light in Whitfield!
New State-of-the-Art Surgery Approved
Dover District Council has rubber-stamped plans for a huge two-storey medical centre in Whitfield set to serve 15,000 locals. The Whitfield Medical Centre will rise between Arable Drive and Fair View Road, boasting nine consulting rooms, two treatment and counselling rooms each, plus a dispensary.
Hospital Services on Your Doorstep
The centre plans to offer services usually found in hospitals or other clinics. This move will ease pressure on specialist units by shifting routine care to the new building. It’s the future of local healthcare, right on your doorstep.
Modern Facilities and Ample Parking
- 57 parking spaces including disabled bays
- Six electric vehicle charging spots
- Cycle store for eco-friendly commuters
The facility will completely replace the existing Whitfield Surgery off Sandwich Road, promising a major upgrade for the community.
Boosting Whitfield’s Urban Expansion
This surgery is part of a sweeping infrastructure surge tied to Whitfield’s massive urban expansion plans. The Dover District Council’s Core Strategy earmarks the area for up to 5,750 new homes. Already, more than 170 have been built in Phase 1.
Outline permission is granted for over 1,400 more homes, a 66-bed care home, health and social care centre, and retail spaces. The next construction phase at Richmond Park is underway, with big names Barratt Homes, Halsbury Homes, and Abbey New Homes leading the charge.
Dover Fastrack to Connect New Community
Meanwhile, Dover Fastrack — a rapid, zero-emission bus service—is progressing well. New roads and a bridge over the A2 are being built. When finished, it’ll link Whitfield’s new homes straight to Dover town centre and Dover Priory train station.
This is more than just a surgery — it’s part of a bold leap into Whitfield’s future.
