Man in 50s Fatally Hit by Car on Ballam Road
Tragedy struck yesterday evening when a pedestrian was hit by a Ford Mondeo in town. Police raced to Ballam Road at around 9pm on Thursday, April 1st, following reports of the collision.
Local Man Dies at Scene
The victim, a local man in his 50s, suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and spoken to by authorities.
Road Shut for Six Hours as Investigation Underway
Ballam Road was closed for six hours while officers carried out a full investigation. Sgt Martin Wilcock from Tactical Operations said:
“This collision has very sadly resulted in a man losing his life. My thoughts are with his family and friends at this time. I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the victim shortly before it to come forward. If you have CCTV or dashcam footage, please get in touch.”
Police Seek Info on Red Peugeot Debris Found Nearby
Officers also want to trace a red Peugeot after vehicle debris was discovered at the scene. CCTV checks suggest this car wasn’t involved, but police are curious about its origin and why it was there.
