Road Shut After Man Spotted on Roof at Southampton Shopping Centre
Police shut the road outside Westquay shopping centre this morning after spotting a man standing on top of Marlands Shopping Centre in Southampton.
The drama unfolded at around 11:15am, prompting officers to close the road both ways between Harbour Parade and Pirelli Street.
Emergency Services Scramble to Calm Situation
Hampshire police confirmed they were called following a “concern for welfare” after the man was seen on the rooftop of the Marlands carpark.
They said: “Police, negotiators, and South Central Ambulance Service are on scene engaging with the man.”
The road closure remains as the tense standoff continues. Commuters are advised to find alternative routes.
