Seal Pup Rescued After Washing Ashore at Hope Beach, Shanklin

A young seal pup was found washed up and separated from its mother at Hope Beach in Shanklin, Isle of Wight, sparking a rescue operation this afternoon.

RSPCA and Coastguard Respond to Distress Call

Beachgoers spotted the stranded seal pup at Small Hope Beach shortly after midday and quickly raised the alarm. The RSPCA and UK Coastguard rushed to the scene, cordoning off a wide area to protect the vulnerable animal from the growing crowd.

Marine Rescue Specialists Step In

Experts from British Divers Marine Life Rescue assessed the distressed youngster on Tuesday afternoon. With its survival at risk, the seal pup was carefully transported to a veterinary practice in Newport for urgent health checks.

Coastguard Ensures Safety at Busy Beach

The Coastguard Search and Rescue team from Ventnor was deployed to manage the crowd and keep the seal safe during the rescue effort.

Hopefully, this little survivor will make a full recovery and one day return to the wild waters of the Isle of Wight.
