Drama at Bognor Regis as Selsey RNLI Launch for Person in Water
On Tuesday 1 November at 5pm, UK Coastguards scrambled the Selsey all-weather lifeboat (ALB) after reports of a person in the sea near Bognor Regis seafront.
Fast Response in Rough Weather
The lifeboat launched promptly at 5:10pm, racing to the scene around the Pier. Conditions were brutal — south-westerly winds force 7-8 with rough seas and heavy rain battering the coast.
The crew arrived at 5:22pm, just as Ambulance services confirmed the person had been hauled from the water.
Support Teams Stand By
Littlehampton and Selsey Coastguard Rescue Teams were also deployed. The lifeboat remained on standby until teams arrived to confirm the individual’s safety.
By 5:41pm, the Coastguard released the Selsey ALB, which returned to base at 6:08pm and swiftly recovered.
