Driver Trapped After Head-On Crash on Isle of Wight

Firefighters rushed to a serious collision on Sandown Road, Apse Heath this morning. A man was trapped in his van after a nasty head-on smash and had to be cut free using specialist equipment.

Rescue Teams Battle to Free Driver

Emergency crews were called at 11:30am following the crash involving a black Toyota Aygo and a small white van. The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service swung into action, using cutting gear to remove the van’s door and windscreen to free the trapped driver, who is reported to have serious injuries.
