Isle of Wight School Hits Coronavirus Snag – Year 8 Sent Home!

Covid-19 Confirmed at Bay CE Secondary

Bay CE Secondary School in Sandown has confirmed a positive coronavirus case in its Year 8 bubble. Parents were informed this week that the affected Year 8 students must self-isolate immediately.

Year 8 Self-Isolation Enforced, Other Years Carry On

Headteacher Teresa Westcott-Hayes told parents: “All Year 8 pupils must self-isolate this week. Other year groups should continue to attend school as normal — but only if they show no symptoms.”

School Follows Strict Government Rules

A school spokesperson said: “Following government guidelines and working closely with Isle of Wight Council and Public Health England, we’ve asked a number of pupils to self-isolate. This is a scenario we’ve prepared for. The safety of our pupils and staff is our top priority.”

They added: “Due to confidentiality, we cannot share more details but we hope all students remain safe. We will keep in contact with the parents of the affected pupils to offer further guidance.”

School Operations Continue for Other Year Groups

Bay CE Secondary confirmed that Years 7, 9, 10, and 11 should continue attending school as usual while Year 8 isolates.
