Military Land Rover Rolled in Near Miss
A careless driver caused chaos on the A43 at Hulcote, leaving two men seriously injured after a terrifying collision. Crenguta Aruxandei, 44, of Northampton, was handed a six-month jail term – but it’s suspended for 18 months. The nightmare unfolded on the morning of January 10, 2025. Aruxandei was in the outside lane of the A43 dual carriageway when she cut sharply in front of a green military Land Rover Defender convoying nearby. The Land Rover driver swerved hard to avoid a crash but slammed into the central reservation, flipping the vehicle multiple times.
Two Men Seriously Hurt
- The 36-year-old Land Rover driver was thrown out and suffered a suspected fractured back. He was rushed to University Hospital Coventry.
- His 31-year-old passenger sustained a serious head injury and was treated at Northampton General Hospital.
Legal Fallout and Driving Ban
Aruxandei admitted two counts of causing serious injury by careless driving back in February, avoiding a jury trial. Last Wednesday (April 8), Northampton Crown Court handed down her sentence. On top of the suspended prison term, she’s banned from driving for 12 months and must pass an extended driving test before she can get her licence back. She also received a £154 victim surcharge.
“Holding a driving licence is a privilege and a responsibility,” said Detective Constable Eleanor Hudson of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit. “There is no place on our roads for drivers who put lives at risk.”
Hudson added that Northamptonshire Police and its partners will keep cracking down on unsafe drivers to reduce serious injuries and fatalities on local roads.
