Massive Blaze Engulfs Abandoned Golf Club in Edgware
Ten fire engines and 70 firefighters raced to tackle a ferocious fire that tore through a disused golf club on Brockley Hill, Edgware.
Derelict Clubhouse and Driving Range Destroyed
The flames ravaged a two-storey abandoned clubhouse and part of the driving range, sending thick smoke billowing across the area. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
Firefighters Battle Intense Blazes in Overnight Operation
Station Commander Neil Guyett, at the scene, revealed the scale of the challenge: “On arrival, crews were faced with a well-developed fire, rapidly spreading through the building.”
Firefighters battled hard to bring the blaze under control, managing to do so by 2:40am after being called out at 12:29am. Multiple fire crews from Stanmore, Mill Hill, Hendon, Harrow, Barnet, and even Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service joined the fight.
Smoke Prompts Safety Warnings and Road Closures
Residents and businesses nearby were warned to keep doors and windows shut due to the heavy smoke. The fire is now contained, but crews remain on site throughout the morning while local road closures continue.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
