Burning Fuel Tanker Sparks Rush Hour Chaos on M3
Fire crews from Rushmoor, Fleet, Yateley, and Surrey FRS raced to tackle a fierce blaze on the M3 southbound near Fleet Services at 6:53am today. The fire, raging around the tanker’s tyres and trailer, was swiftly brought under control with breathing apparatus and hose reel jets.
Quick-Thinking Crews Prevent Major Disaster
Thanks to the rapid response, firefighters stopped the flames from reaching the fuel inside the tanker, avoiding what could have been a catastrophic incident. Hampshire Constabulary shut the carriageway as the teams worked efficiently to douse the fire.
Road Reopens After Clean-Up
After extinguishing the fire, Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service dampened the area and secured the scene before handing it over to the Highways Agency. The road was soon cleared and reopened, easing rush hour traffic headaches.
