School Bus Top Crashes Into Railway Bridge in Winchester
Police are hunting witnesses after a serious crash involving a school bus in Winchester yesterday morning. The bus, travelling from Itchen Abbas through Easton and Kingsworthy, slammed its top into a railway bridge on Wellhouse Lane at 8.10am on 10 September.
Three Students Seriously Injured
The collision caused major damage to the bus roof and left three pupils, aged 11 to 16, with potentially life-changing injuries. All required surgery following the impact.
Police Launch Full Investigation
The Serious Collision Investigation Unit is now probing the crash. Detective Constable Cate Paling stressed the importance of staying factual. She said:
“This was a serious collision and our investigation will look to identify the exact circumstances.
“We have been working closely with the school and Hampshire County Council to provide support to the students and their parents. We thank everyone for their cooperation.
“We ask members of the public not to speculate about the incident on social media.”
