Young Mum, 32, Drowns After Being Trapped Between Rocks at Lowestoft Seafront
Tragic Accident Rocks Lowestoft Beach
A young mother’s life was cut tragically short after she became trapped between boulders at a popular Lowestoft beauty spot. Saffron Cole-Nottage, 32, is thought to have slipped and fallen between rocks along The Esplanade seawall on the evening of Sunday, February 2, 2025. Despite frantic rescue efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency services rushed to the scene at 8:03pm, launching a major response including:
- Suffolk Police
- HM Coastguard Rescue Officers from Lowestoft
- East of England Ambulance Service
- East Anglian Air Ambulance
Tragically, all attempts to save Saffron failed.
A police spokesperson said:
“Suffolk Constabulary was called at around 8.03pm by the ambulance service to an incident on the coast off The Esplanade. A woman in her 30s sadly died at the scene.”
The death is currently being treated as unexplained but police have confirmed there are no suspicious circumstances. A file is being prepared for the coroner.
