Woman, 40, Battles for Life After Horror Smash on A406 North Circular
Serious Crash in Barking
A 40-year-old woman is fighting for her life after being hit by a car on the A406 North Circular in Barking this afternoon. The shocking collision happened just before 3pm.
The victim was rushed to hospital in critical condition, sparking major delays and road closures in the area.
Traffic Chaos as Roads Shut
Following the crash, several road closures remain in place. Motorists are urged to avoid the North Circular and find alternative routes.
Traffic monitoring site Inrix reported severe delays northbound on the A406, with congestion backing up to Blackwall Tunnels and beyond to the A13 Newham Way and A124 London Road.
Thankfully, after a three-hour closure, lanes have now reopened, easing gridlock for frustrated drivers.
Police and Ambulance Respond
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at 14:52 on Thursday, 15 February following reports of a collision on the A406 in Barking. Officers and London Ambulance Service attended. At the scene, a 40-year-old female pedestrian had been struck by a car.”
The injured woman was transported to an east London hospital where her injuries remain critical. Police are working to contact her next of kin.
The driver of the car stayed at the scene and no arrests have been made.
