Police Hunt Thieves After £40,000 Golf Club Heist in Romsey
Police are on the trail of brazen robbers who made off with thousands of pounds worth of top-tier golf clubs from a shop in Romsey.
Masked Gang Targets Limited Edition Arsenal Golf Clubs
Between 10.10pm and 10.30pm on Wednesday, October 12, three men wearing balaclavas jumped out of a white van outside the 121 Golf Shop on Premier Way. They smashed their way into the store and snatched a haul of precious clubs worth around £40,000.
The stolen gear includes:
- Taylor Made M1 drivers
- Limited edition Cobra Arsenal Football Club drivers
- Cobra Fly-Z drivers (blue heads)
- Cobra Fly-Z+ drivers (orange heads)
- Nike Golf Vapor Fly drivers
- Various Callaway golf clubs
CCTV Footage Shows Gang Scoping Out Target
Police have released CCTV shots capturing the suspects’ movements before the raid. On the night before the heist, October 11, a group of men were caught loitering around the shop in a Vauxhall Signum, peering through the windows between 7pm and 8pm.
The third CCTV image shows the distinctive white Ford Transit van with a masked man looking out just before the robbery took place the next evening.
Police Appeal After Unique Arsenal Clubs Stolen
“We want to hear from anyone who can ID the man in the hooded top in the CCTV,” said PC Brad Manning. “We believe he could be involved in this crime.”
“If you saw suspicious behaviour or either of the vehicles on those nights, please get in touch. The Arsenal golf clubs stand out — only 500 exist worldwide, each numbered on the club head.”
“If you spot any of these clubs being offered for sale, alert us immediately.”
