Window Cleaner Steals money from Sholing Property

Police have released an E-fit following reports that a man working as a window cleaner stole cash from an elderly woman’s house in Southampton. It has been reported that the man cleaned the windows of a house on Heathfield Close, Sholing, on Saturday 5 August, before returning the following day stating he had forgotten to clean the inside window of the bedroom. The man was invited into the house and the 80-year-old victim later found that a metal cash box containing £260 had gone. He has been described as: • White • Aged 30-35 years • 5ft 7ins – 5ft 8ins tall • Short black curly hair • Slim • Clean shaven • A small tattoo on the left side of his neck The man was also described as wearing dark blue jeans and a fawn coloured jacket, and was carrying a Tesco bag for life which contained a bucket, some rags, and a window cleaning squeegee blade. Officers have released an E-fit of a man we would like to identify and speak with in connection with this incident. Police Staff Investigator Peter Burns said: “We would like to identify the person in this E-fit, but would also like to hear from anyone who may have seen a man matching this description in the area. “We have received reports that a man matching this description has also been operating in the Butts Road area of Sholing, and the Pepys Avenue area of Thornhill. “If you have any concerns, or have any information that could help our enquiries, then please contact us immediately.” Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting 44170303783, or call the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
