Forty Firefighters Battle Blazing Shop Inferno in Lee on the Solent
Forty firefighters have been rushed to tackle a fierce blaze at a shop on Lee on the Solent’s High Street. Crews from Gosport, Fareham, Southsea, Botley, and Portchester are locked in a tough fight with the fire, which erupted just after 1am on Tuesday.
High Street Shut as Fire Flares Up
Police have shut the one-way traffic system as flames tore through the multi-storey premise. Despite relentless efforts using hose reels and jets, the fire spread rapidly inside the building.
Specialist aerial ladder platforms were brought in to reach the hardest-hit areas. Firefighters have been on-scene for hours and are expected to remain for some time.
No Injuries But Smoke Lingers
Hampshire Fire and Rescue confirmed: “Thankfully, no one has been injured.” However, locals are warned to keep their windows shut to avoid smoke inhalation, as smoke is expected to linger in the area.
Cause Under Investigation
The fire’s cause remains unknown, with investigations ongoing. Fire crews are working hard to make the scene safe, but the High Street closure will likely continue for hours.
