Appeal after man dies following two car collision in Wanstead

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and information following a fatal collision between two cars in Wanstead. Police were called at 2.13am on Thursday, 6 September following reports of a road traffic collision underneath the Green Man Roundabout on the A12 Eastbound in Waltham Forest. Officers attended with London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade. Two cars, an Audi and a Range Rover, were involved in a serious collision which left both cars severely damaged. A man aged in his late twenties, thought to be the driver of the Audi, suffered critical injuries and died at the scene. His next of kin have now been informed. Several people, including the driver of the blue Range Rover Sport involved in the collision and passengers of both vehicles were taken to an east London hospital. Their injuries are not life-threatening. Four people – from the Range Rover – have been arrested on suspicion of drug offences and causing death by dangerous driving. Road closures are in place; motorists are advised to avoid the area. Officers would like anyone with dashcam footage to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0208 597 4874.
